Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC)
Often regarded as the purest form of whey protein, WPI contains an average of 90% of its weight coming from protein with minimal lactose and fat, which is great news for those sensitive to lactose and looking to keep their calories in check. It is more costly than the standard whey protein concentrate used by many in the industry, yet with our advanced processing methods, many of the beneficial ‘whole food’ qualities of concentrate are preserved. Fast digesting, containing high levels of the anabolic amino acid leucine and practically zero fats, lactose or added sugars, WPI is an ideal, premium protein for promoting lean muscle growth, repair and maintenance.
Milk Protein Isolate (MPI)
Derived from milk itself, MPI naturally contains 80% casein protein and 20% whey isolate protein per gram. It is highly regarded for a wide variety of uses including providing sustained amino acid levels in the blood stream due to slower digestion via coagulating in the stomach. This unique property of this slower digesting protein not only has been shown to help satiate hunger but also help stabilize blood glucose levels and raise metabolism due to the thermic effect of protein. Additionally, our premium-grade MPI undergoes an advanced processing method, providing a protein source with virtually zero fats, lactose, added sugars or cholesterol.
Micellar Casein (MC)
MC is a protein derived from cow’s milk with the term micellar referring to the fact that these proteins naturally aggregate into “micelles” when in a watery medium. Due to this coagulating nature, MC is slow digesting and has been shown in studies to keep amino acids elevated for as long as 7 hours in the body, further promoting a state of anabolism. MC has also been shown to help strengthen the immune system due to it’s glutamine and immunoglobulin content.
One VERY important fact about MC is that it differs from other caseins/caseinates as it exists in its natural form and is more readily digested and assimilated by the body. Other cheaper forms of caseins/caseinates such as calcium or sodium caseinate are exposed to acid and alkali processes during their production in order to make them more palatable for use in food. This cheaper method results in a lower level of bioavailability due to the natural micellar structure of the casein being irreparably destroyed and the protein denatured. MyShake uses ONLY premium micellar casein, not a cheaper, sub-par substitute like calcium caseinate.
